We had another amazing week in third grade.
In Reading and Writing we have started our Natural Disasters Research Project. We picked either volcanoes or earthquakes to study. We have been researching our chosen disaster using articles, internet or books. We then have been taking notes and turning those notes into paragraphs. We also have been drawing pictures and writing captions to go with our informational text. It's hard work but it sure has been fun and we are learning a lot!
In Math we practiced word problems with our multiplication and division facts. We also learned about the order of operation when solving two step problems. We used PEMDAS,Please(Parenthesis) Excuse(Exponents) My(Multiplication) Dear(Division) Aunt(Addition) Sally(Subtraction), to help us remember which equation to do first. Check out the video below!!
In PYP: How the World Works we continue to investigate minerals. We tested its luster using flashlights. We also tired to identify different minerals based on their properties. We also tested the hardness of minerals!
