I am now back in Michigan! It feels good to be home but I sure do miss that Miami weather! I heard all about our Halloween fun and the students enjoyed telling me many stories!
In Reading this week we continued learning about non-fiction text features. This week we learned about captions, graphs, charts, diagrams, maps and headings. We even practiced taking notes on information we've read.
In Writing we wrote about an animal we knew a lot about. This was our practice for writing non-fiction text. We tried to make sure to inform the reader which we learned is the purpose of non-fiction.
In Math we practiced solving word problems with multiplication and division. We learned different ways to identify whether to use multiplication or division. We also practiced multiplication and division facts in our 4s. We reviewed the many different strategies we have learned for multiplication and division.
In our PYP unit: How the world words: Dynamic Earth we started to learn more about the Earth's layers. We learned the Earth is made up of a crust, mantle and core. We even presented the information we had learned to the class in groups!
Students did a great job with the character bag projects! Everyone did wonderful presenting, even if we were feeling nervous! Well done!
